Cambridge Mask provide a range of high-tech anti-pollution face masks made from military grade, material. The whole face mask section acts as the filter and designed to fit snugly over the lower portion of your face via a set of ear loops and an inbuilt nose clip.
Cambridge Mask products are available in an array of different designs that are fashionable, and will protect you from any impurities in the air, ranging from pollen to pollutants to bacteria and viruses. Face masks help to keep you and your family safe at home, while outside in congested areas, when travelling, and whilst abroad, ensuring the air you breathe is always clean.
Colours & Patterns
Cambridge masks employ a "dye-sublimation" printing process that transfers liquid gel ink onto a special type of paper through piezoelectric print heads, before heat and pressure are applied to transfer the dye from the paper into the mask fabric. The dye is fused to the mask textile permanently on a molecular level, so it is completely safe and cannot be removed through normal use or washing.
The masks supplied by Cambridge Masks have 3 key layers of filtration:
The primary filter layer is the external filter that stops larger particles such as dust, pollen and PM10 (particulate matter 10 micrometres in diameter). For reference, a human hair is 100 micrometres in diameter. This layer is on the outermost part of the mask, and it holds the pattern or colour print on it.
The three-ply micro particulate layer is designed to block particulate pollution such as PM2.5 (particulate matter 2.5 microns in diameter), although in actual fact it will filter particles far smaller than this, down to PM0.3 (particulate matter 0.3 microns in diameter). The textile is made from a thermoplastic polymer, which has been blow moulded to create a fibrous web. While the random fibre orientation creates a better mesh to trap pollution, the large surface area provided by the numerous fibres allows a greater percentage of particulates to be captured as they pass through the filter.
The military grade carbon fibre layer is made from a 100% pure activated carbon cloth and has been developed to protect personnel from airborne chemical and biological hazards. Activated carbon generates electrostatic (Van der Waal) forces, allowing the porous material the ability to absorb molecules into their internal pores. The filter material in the mask contains many activated carbon filaments, each about 2,000 nanometres in diameter, and the pores in each filament are 25 times smaller than those in standard carbon materials, concentrating and intensify the powerful electrostatic charges. This absorbs molecules such as endotoxins quickly from a much wider area, as well as drawing out viruses and killing bacteria to prevent infection.
How to use the mask
Simply take the mask out of its packaging, and hold it up with the pattern or colour side facing away from you. Orientate the mask so that the nose clip is at the top (feel along the top edge of the mask for a metal strip embedded within the material - this is the nose clip). Place the mask on your face, and put the ear loops around either ear. Adjust the mask so that it fits comfortably around the nose and mouth, and breathe normally. It is important to ensure the mask seals around your face as closely as possible, so press the nose clip down to follow the contour of your nose, and use your hand to shape the mask to the contour of your face. Adjust the ear loops once more around your ears to make sure it is sitting just right. You should find that no air is able to pass through any gaps in the mask when inhaling. If it does, please readjust the mask until this is no longer the case.
Washing & Care instructions
The mask is washable, but cleaning them only removes dirt and not pollution trapped inside the filter. Please replace your mask once every 4 months of constant use. If you are only using the mask on occasion, then we would suggest replacing your mask once every 6 months. If you only need to clean the external areas of the mask, then simply submerge in the mask in warm, soapy water, and clean by hand until any dirt is gone.
